Organise Your Alumni Event

Missing your time at Southampton? Fancy returning to campus and revisiting some old haunts? Want to get together with your university friends? Organise an alumni event in-person or online – we can help!

The Events Team in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations can offer you advice and support when planning your event. This includes contacting fellow alumni, recommending venues and accommodation, and publicising your event on our social media channels.

Contacting your fellow alumni

Using our extensive alumni database, we can find a list of friends who might be interested in attending your event. This can be sorted by year of graduation, subject of study or location. We can then forward on your invitation via email to those we have permission to contact.

Planning and event ideas

Unsure of the type of event you’d like to run? Don’t worry – we have lots of experience in supporting alumni events, and are happy to provide guidance on all aspects of the preparation process – whether it’s online or in-person! From the planning stages and inviting guests, to booking University venues and catering, all the way through to how to run your event on the day, we’ll be able to give you assistance through email and over the phone, to ensure your events runs as smoothly as possible! Advice on venues, catering and accommodation

We can provide information on many venues in Southampton, including places to stay, local restaurants/bars and points of interest to see on your visit. We can also help with holding your event on campus, including offering support with how to book on-site rooms and catering.  If you’d like to hold your event virtually, we can recommend a variety of platforms for you and provide some useful hints and tips.

Arranging a campus tour

Take advantage of being back in your old stomping ground by having an exclusive campus tour! We can help arrange for you to have a Student Ambassador take you and your friends around our campuses, showing you how your favourite places have changed since you studied here, and taking you to visit our beautiful new buildings which grace the campus. We may even be able to liaise with your former faculty to organise a visit.

Publicising your event

Got your event planned and ready to go? Using our communications channels, we can advertise your event in our What’s On newsletter and Hartley News Online magazine, as well as our social media channels.
