About

Following our recent alumni and supporter 70th celebration day on Highfield Campus we are pleased to bring you the online premiere of The Future of Medicine: Smart Partnerships lecture.

Hosted by Professor Mark Spearing, this lecture will bring to the stage a number of our world-leading researchers who are leading the way globally in cancer and dementia research. Together, they will demonstrate the strength that smart partnerships can bring to the future of medicine.

You can expect to hear from Professor Diana Eccles, Dr Sean Lim and Dr Owen Rackham as they talk about The PROSECO study. This is a national observational study across England led by Southampton, the preliminary results were published in Lancet Haematology last year and was used to inform national policy on vaccination in individuals with lymphoma. The first full report of the study has just been published in Nature Cancer last week. Further, it has led to us co-leading a national 3rd dose vaccine study.

You will also hear from Professors Roxana Carare and Sumeet Mahajan. Together, they will tell us about neurological diseases and the work that is underway at Southampton that is absolutely unique, and the tools that are being used to see things that no-one else has ever seen before.

This event will be live streamed on YouTube. The link to join will be set up to one week in advance.
