About

The University will be celebrating National Inclusion Week from Monday 26 September to Friday 2 October.  This annual event, “…dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces” was developed by Inclusive Employers and is now in its tenth year.

The theme for this year is “Time to Act: The Power of Now”, which follows on from last year’s theme of “unity” to become “action”. This action could be a small act of self-reflection on what inclusion means to us or inviting people to an event/meeting to share a project you have been working on.

Book your free place on ‘Getting Ready for National Inclusion Week 2022’ 11:00 – 12:00 on 8 September, run by Inclusive Employers. It will provide you with useful information on how you can get the best out of National Inclusion Week to inspire and celebrate inclusion at our University.

This is a great opportunity for us to think more about what makes us a community and how we can be more inclusive. We can ask ourselves what we can do to progress inclusion and share good practice, develop a plan or activity which reflects our position in the inclusion journey.

Along with “The Power of Now” there are many opportunities for us to connect as a community.  Below are a few:

  • The Power of Connection – take the time to reach out and connect with your colleague(s) in your team or in another department.
  • The Power of Recognition – recognise something someone has done and acknowledge it.
  • The Power of Knowledge – take ownership of your learning.
  • The Power of Commitment – make a pledge to inclusion. Consider what you would like to improve over the next 12 months.

Check out the other events available to you on Inclusive Employers.

Throughout National Inclusion Week we will be sharing resources and ideas which will support you with your inclusion journey.
