Register nowWide-ranging fields of non-biological sensing such as in Mars rovers, autonomous marine vehicles, and aerial mapping includes the use of artificial intelligence in the capture, processing, and creation of data. Such technologies are shaped by human perspectives and desires. The images produced, in turn, re-shape human perception and understanding.
This project aims to critically examine the urgency and impact of this ‘loop’. It uses transdisciplinary workshop methods to ignite questions and expose cross-disciplinary participants to unfamiliar perspectives, namely in the ‘DIY’ style building of an underwater remote sensing device.
The session will showcase a range of imagery, thoughts and provocations through a small speculative publication, larger printed images, and the device itself in action.
