Peter F. Hunt
Peter F. Hunt studied Botany at Southampton University,1954-57, followed by a Masters degree. He worked at Kew for 12 years, followed by 21 years at Thames Polytechnic, then with the RHS as the International Orchid Registrar until his retirement.
He was a great train traveller, took part in plant hunting expeditions, contributed to many publications, including the first Reader’s Digest ‘Encyclopaedia of Plants and Flowers’, and was a Chelsea Flower Show Judge. Books he wrote included ‘Discovering Botany’, Longman 1979, and with M Grierson, ‘Orchidaceae’ , Bourton Press 1973.
