Your alumni community is made up of over 290,000 people across 185 countries and overseas territories – and it grows every year. You’re a diverse group of people, following different paths and at various stages of life. That’s why, this time last year, we asked how best we can support you.

There’s a lot that we can do for you, from networks and meet-ups in the UK and internationally, to careers support and sharing good news from the University. And now, we have a much better understanding of what you value from us.

Your connection to the University

It was wonderful to see that you feel proud of your University, and that you value hearing news from Southampton. You also told us that the sense of belonging and connections to classmates and alumni are important to you. Your responses on communication topics and frequency will help us to shape our communications programme, meeting your needs.

Giving back

Our alumni have a long history of giving back, in both time – sharing knowledge gained from years of life and career experience – and philanthropic donations, and we’re incredibly proud of our Southampton Together community. This generosity helps to progress world-leading research and plays an important role in the lives of many students. We’ll use these responses to ensure our efforts go into the areas that you care about the most.

Thanks to you, our Ignite Programme supports underrepresented and disadvantaged students both financially and through extensive mentoring and career support. In addition, we are committed to raising money for scholarships for more PhD candidates and look forward to sharing more details with you.

We will ensure we focus on the areas that are important to you, and those that make a real and tangible impact in medical research.
