Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to double the number of places available on the Ignite programme. This year, for the first time, we have welcomed 60 bright and deserving first year students to the Ignite cohort.
One student has received a £42,000 three-year scholarship, 12 students will each receive a £10,000 bursary over their three years of study, while a further 47 students will receive £3,000 over the same period. The first year Ignite students will be undertaking a range of courses, including Law, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Philosophy, Nursing, Geography, International Relations, and Chemical Engineering.
We met with new and returning students at a Welcome Breakfast in late October (see photo), where they had the opportunity to chat with the Ignite team and get to know each other ahead of this year’s programme of workshops and activities.
One of the highlights of Ignite that we hear about so often from our students is the increased sense of belonging found on campus and the network they get to build so quickly amongst peers. One first year student at the Welcome Breakfast said, “Even though the term has just started I feel like I already have so many friends!”.
We’re really looking forward to keeping you updated on how all of the Ignite students get on – there’s a full programme for them to get involved with, from workshops, internships, and mentorships. Thanks to you, these opportunities are fully funded and the impact of them will be felt by the students for years to come.
Thank you for your continued commitment to Ignite and to our students, it is so appreciated.
