The move is part of a transformative £600 million investment in the University’s infrastructure. The Business School, now in the space formerly occupied by maritime engineering firm Lloyd’s Register, will enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, expansive interactive and collaborative spaces, and a blend of open and shared offices. These enhancements promise an unrivalled academic environment for both our staff and students.
“We are thrilled to unveil our new home at the heart of the University’s Boldrewood Innovation Campus,” says Professor Laura Costanzo, Head of Southampton Business School. “This move represents the culmination of extensive planning and investment. We are confident that the enhanced facilities will set Southampton Business School on a renewed learning journey which will benefit our academics and students and facilitate groundbreaking research, co-creation and knowledge exchange initiatives.”
The newly modernised space is designed to foster engagement with students, world-renowned scholars, University colleagues from various disciplines, entrepreneurs, and leaders from both business and civic organisations.
As Laura explains, “The Business School already delivers a very successful, fully accredited MBA programme. MBA executives come to us from more than 30 countries, offering cohorts a truly international context within which to grow into tomorrow’s business leaders. At Boldrewood, these executives will have a dedicated, modern learning space – the MBA suite – located on the top floor of the new building. As well as fostering collaborative working, it offers stunning views of Southampton!
“The new building will also host the Business School Network for Leaders and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (LEiRs). This means that successful senior business leaders and entrepreneurs will be embedded in and regularly visit Southampton to deliver inspiring lectures or seminars to our students and staff. The network provides a direct link between academia and the world of practice. This offers a unique opportunity to gain real in-practice insights, in addition to opportunities for impact and industry networking.”
With this renewed focus, the school has revamped its educational portfolio with new BSc and MSc courses ready for enrolment in 2025.
The relocation is a key component of the University’s broader vision to create meaningful societal impact, both within the local community and on the international stage.
