Register nowWe are delighted to invite you to this special event, Medical Innovation: Tackling Cancer and Dementia, which will showcase Southampton’s ambitions in this field, and how we are changing the world for the better. The event, which will take place at Les Cotils, will be graced by the presence of His Excellency, Lieutenant-Governor and hosted by Nicola Brink MBE. As one of our special guests, you will also hear an exclusive ‘sneak peek’ about our exciting new plans for a ground-breaking new Institute for Medical Innovation. Come and hear how we intend to tackle, at pace, some of society’s most devastating diseases in a brand-new state-of-the-art building in the heart of University Hospital Southampton. We will, for the first time, unite our world-leading engineers and data scientists with our medical research experts to work together to solve major health challenges, in this new era of medicine.

Host
Dr Nicola Brink MBE is Guernsey’s Director of Public Health. She was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2020 for her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Guernsey.
Speakers
Professor Peter Johnson is the Director of the Southampton Cancer Research UK Centre and a leading expert in lymphoma. He is also Director of Cancer Services for the NHS.
Professor Roxana Carare, Professor of Clinical Neuroanatomy, and a leader in understanding the causes of dementia.
Professor Paul Elkington MBE is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine, and a clinical researcher. He is also the academic lead for our new, revolutionary Institute for Medical Innovation.
