Shell Shipping Vice President appointed as Adjunct Professor

Dr Grahaeme Henderson (BEng Civil Engineering, 1976), Vice President, Shipping and Maritime at Shell, has been appointed as Adjunct Professor with the University’s Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI).

Grahaeme is responsible for Shell’s international shipping and maritime activities. He will work with the SMMI to provide students, academic and professional colleagues with operational insights into innovation, entrepreneurship and management within the global marine and maritime industries. Based at our new Boldrewood Innovation Campus, the SMMI encompasses over 300 academics and brings together our marine and maritime disciplines across the University.

“We are delighted to have someone of Dr Henderson’s vast experience, knowledge and stature join the University and the SMMI as Adjunct Professor which is a first for Southampton,” said Professor Ajit Shenoi, Director of the SMMI. “This appointment will only strengthen our excellent relationship with Shell Shipping & Maritime, and make it possible for the SMMI to stay at the forefront of thinking and professional practice in the fast-paced and growing world of global shipping.”
